How to Brief a BIPV System Supplier

A building-integrated photovoltaics inquiry should describe the building surface first and the energy requirement second, because the two share one surface. This page lists those items as questions to confirm.

Write the surface first

Open with the roof or wall plan, its orientation and any shading, then describe the surface the photovoltaic equipment will share, including drainage and maintenance access. A roof that carries photovoltaic equipment is maintained differently from a plain roof, and that difference belongs in the first inquiry.

Then describe the energy requirement as a requirement to be confirmed. This site publishes no power ratings or energy output figures, so any energy figure that matters to your project must be confirmed in writing.

What to confirm in your inquiry

  • Roof or wall plan, orientation and shading: please describe them
  • Shared surface, drainage and maintenance access: please describe them
  • Energy requirements: please list them as requirements to be confirmed
  • Minimum order quantity, supply scope and lead time: please confirm in your inquiry
